Pick your gridsquare
It turns out that the diatoms we're counting average about 75μm in diameter. In order to count them using the hemocytometer, the first choice we'll have to make is which size of gridsquare to use. Recall that the different gridsquares are 1000, 250, 200, and 50μm on edge. How big are our diatoms in comparison?
Which gridsquare size would you use?
